Berlin is the site of the first gender and sexualities studies institute and the current center of debates about migration and developing active, healthy cities. Students will learn effective strategies for social work and public health workers to respond to changing understandings of gender and embodiment.
Students will meet with various professionals developing and deploying programs around sex, sexual health, and sports for queer youth and adults, sex workers, mothers, children, and refugees. They will also meet with policymakers in this space to explore how German lawmakers and lobbyists approach some of the structural challenges and funding mechanisms. In addition to larger agencies, we will meet with startups and activist groups in this space.
Students will have the opportunity to meet with individuals from:
- Discover Football
- Landeszentrale Podium
- Mediburo
- PfefferSport
- Queer Youth Center
- Schwulenberatung Kita
- Catholic University for Social Affairs
- Regenbogenfabrik
